      Because of the tight flight schedule, RI-001 aircraft had to undergo its maintenance outside of Indonesia, and in December 7, 1948, RI-001 aircraft has landed in Calcutta for the maintenance. However, while the aircraft still undergo its maintenance, in December 19, 1948, the Dutch military has launched its second military aggression, even the aircraft have finished its maintenance, the RI-001 aircraft is unable to return to Indonesia.

      In the same time, The Government of Burma had needed air transportation. In order to gather funds for the availability of flight attendants, finally it has decided that RI-001 aircraft have leased to The Government of Burma. In January 26, 1949. RI-001 aircraft flown from Calcutta to Rangoon by the name of "Indonesian Airways".

      However, it has given the name "Garuda" by President Soekarno himself which he quoted from a Dutch poem composed by a popular poets that time, Noto Soeroto; "Ik ben Garuda, Vishnoe's vogel, die zijn vleugels uitslaat hoog bovine uw einladen", which means,"I am Garuda, Vishnoe's bird which spread its wing high above your archipelago".

      In December 28, 1949, Douglas DC-3 Dakota PK-DPD aircraft, which have painted with "Garuda Indonesian Airways" logo, flew from Jakarta to Yogyakarta to come after President Soekarno. That was the first time the aircraft flies by the name of "Garuda Indonesian Airways".

      The company was incorporated in 1950 under the name of Yayasan Penguasaan Pusat Kapal-kapal (PEPUSKA/Foundation of Main Authority for Ships) by legally from Surat Keputusan Bersama (SKB/Joining Letter) by the Minister of Transportation and Minister of Public Development.

      During the years before 1950s, The Netherlands Government refused Indonesia's concept to convert their Ships Company by the name of N.V. K.P.M (Koninklijke Paketvaart Matschappij) into a private company. The concept also mentioned that all operational ships must using Indonesia National Flag. This idea was totally rejected by The Netherlands Government.

      Onwards, the rejection does not decrease the spirit for Indonesia. In spite of, consist with 8 ships with total 4800 DWT (death weight ton), PEPUSKA story was such a success that the business was continuing and expanded. PEPUSKA ships sails together with N.V. K.P.M ships that already had experienced more than half century. That was some unfair business. N.V. K.P.M had more ships than PEPUSKA does, and also N.V. K.P.M already monopoly some business contract in shipment.

      Finally, On April 28th 1952, in addition to its operation, management recognized growing opportunities in the shipment business. On that date, PEPUSKA being dismissed and Indonesia opened its first state shipment private company called PT. PELNI based on three legal letters Surat Keputusan Menteri Perhubungan (Minister of Transportation) No. M.2/1/2 dated February 28th 1952, No. A.2/1/2 dated April 19th 1952, and Berita Negara Republik Indonesia No. 50 dated June 20th 1952. PT PELNI appointed its first President Director is Mr. R. Ma'moen Soemadipraja (1952-1955)

      The Company (PT. PELNI) found it difficult to compete with only 8 boats from PEPUSKA as a beginning. So, Export Import Indonesia Bank lending funds for PELNI to bought 45 coasters from Western Europe. As the company wait for those coasters arrival, PELNI rented some overseas flag ships. This procedure was taken to fulfill empty route inherit from KPM. After that one by one the rented ships was replaced by the coasters and some of them also fulfilled by the Japanese boats taken from war action.

      To provide the capital to further its growth, PT. PELNI changed their status from public into Government Company in 1961 based on Lembaran Negara RI No. LN 1961. In 1975, the Company changed its status again into a Private Company based on Akte Pendirian No. 31 dated October 30th, 1975. This history is written on Berita Negara RI No. 562-1976 and addendum No. 60 dated June 27th, 1976.

      As time goes by and competition, in the late 1975 the company changed their status based on Akta Pendirian No. 31 dated October 30th, 1975 and Akte Perubahan No. 22 dated March 4th, 1998.       Our main business is to provide sea mass transportation that covered passenger and goodies transport amongst the island in Indonesia. Today we operate more than 28 units of passenger ship transport that classified as follows: 3.000 pax, 2.000 pax, 1.000 pax, and 500 pax of passenger capacity, The Ro-Ro type (Roll on - Roll off) and 1 unit of high speed ferry with overall capacity in total of 36.913 passengers.       Beginning in the late 19th century, the development of electricity in Indonesia was intensified in several Dutch Companies operating in sugar and tea plantation that developed power plant to meet their personal needs.
      Between 1942-1945, there was a great shift from these Dutch manufacturing companies by the Japanese after the Dutch surrendered to the Japanese army in the beginning of World War II.

      The shift reoccurred at the end of World War II in August 1945 when the Japanese surrendered to the Allied Forces. This opportunity was taken over by the youths and electricity labourers through Labour/Employee Electricity and Gas delegation together with the Management of KNI Head Office to meet President Soekarno to ask the handover of the Companies to the Government of the Republic of Indonesia. On October 27, 1945, President Soekarno established Electricity and Gas Bureau under the Departement of Public Works and Energy with power plant capacity of 157.5 MW.

      On January 1, 1961, Gas and Electricity Bureau was changed to BPU-PLN (Board of General Administration of the State Electricity Company) that focused on electricity, gas and coke sectors. On January 1, 1965 BPU-PLN was dismissed and 2 (two) state owned enterprises were formalised, namely Perusahaan Listrik Negara (PLN), a state-owned electricity company, to manage electrity power and Perusahaan Gas Negara (PGN) to manage gas power.

      In 1972, in accordance with Government Regulation No. 17, the State-owned Electricity Company was enacted as a State-owned General Electricity Company and as PKUK responsible to provide electricity to meet public needs. While the Government policy was giving opportunity to the Private Sectors to focus on the provision of electricity, the status of PLN was changed from a General Company to Corporation’ as well as PKUK in providing electricity for public needs until the present.       The presence of railways in Indonesia was marked by the first hoeing railway construction in the village Kemijen, dated June 17, 1864 Friday by the Governor-General of the Dutch East Indies, Mr.. Baron van den L.A.J Sloet Beele. Development initiated by "Naamlooze Venootschap Spoorweg Nederlandsch Indische Maatschappij" (NV. NISM) led by Ir. JP de Bordes from Kemijen Responsibility towards the village (26 Km) with a width of 1435 mm gauge. This road was opened for public transport on Saturday, August 10, 1867.

      The success of private, NV. NISM build a railway between Kemijen - Responsibility, which later on February 10, 1870 can connect the city of Semarang - Mumbai (110 km), eventually encourage investors to build a railway in other areas. Not surprisingly, that growth in length of the railway between 1864 - 1900 with rapid growth. If in 1867 only 25 km, in 1870 to 110 km, reaching 405 km in 1880, the year 1890 to 1427 km and in the year 1900 to 3338 km.

      In addition to Java, railway construction was also conducted in Aceh (1874), North Sumatra (1886), West Sumatra (1891), Texas (1914), even in 1922 in Sulawasi also been built along the 47 km railway between Napier - Takalar, who performed the operation on July 1, 1923, the remaining Ujungpandang - Maros have not been resolved. While in Borneo, although it had not been built, the railway study Pontianak - Sambas (220 km) has been completed. Similarly, in the island of Bali and Lombok, never done railway development studies.
